Minimum requirements
Majority of people can drive Uber, although requirements vary by city you live in. These are the minimum requirements that apply to all:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a valid provincial driver’s license
- Have an eligible vehicle (7 year and newer in most cities)
Required documents
Before you get approved to drive for Uber you’ll need to share and upload following documents to your profile:
- A valid Ontario G driver’s license or equivalent
- Proof of work eligibility (PR card, Canadian passport, work permit, study permit)
- Proof of vehicle registration
- Proof of vehicle insurance
- Proof of vehicle inspection- Safety Standard Certificate-SSC (Get at government approved motor vehicle inspection stations & authorized car shops e.g. Active Green+Ross or Canadian Tire offer discount for Uber drivers, typically cost ranges between $60-$90 and it’s good for 1 year)
- A driver profile photo (centered with top of shoulders, forward-facing, no sunglasses, no other subject in the picture, well-lit, no driver’s license photo or other printed photograph accepted)
- Lastly you’ll be required to come in to one of the Greenlight Hubs- Uber offices. For Ontario these are located in Toronto, Mississauga and Scarborough where they need to complete your background screening. Make sure you bring your Ontario driver’s license and 1 more piece of ID with you (credit card with your name on it or health card- both are good).
